Like every year, Lux Style Awards’ promotions kicked off pretty well, and the hype was almost everywhere. But in all honesty, the show was not so great, like it always is, probably due to the change in management. The red carpet looked nothing close to the reputation of LSA through the years.
As for the attendees, all the people who were winning, made sure they were present, rest of them preferred to give a cold shoulder to the supposedly star-studded event. Among actresses, Mahira Khan, Maya Ali, Sanam Saeed attended, who basically came down to pick up their awsrds.
Nominated celebrities like Hareem Farooq and Saba Qamar gave the event a total miss, which is only natural. We hear a lot about a similar trend in Pakistan’s neighbouring country, and it looks like only the winners managed to make it to the event.
Apart from the guests list, Lux Style Awards had a very confused set of categories. While there was a Best Writer category for television, there wasn’t one for movies. Everything from deciding to nominations to winners seemed really clouded and we are not too happy with the winners list. But then again, an industry that has only taken the first step so far, can’t be expected to hold an award show that is anything more than a commercial venture.
